Biography

Born in England to American parents, Claudia Cron was raised in Connecticut. Ms. Cron attended the Maryland Institute of Art before transferring to Parsons School of Design in New York.

While studying in New York City, Ms. Cron was approached by Ford Models and accepted their representation—affording her the opportunity to travel while supporting her art studies. Modeling extensively in Europe and the United States, she was under contract with Estee Lauder for their line, Prescriptives, for six years.

Ms. Cron appeared in several films, most notably Diner and Stir Crazy—and was a featured player on several television shows including Cheers, Hill Street Blues and Remington Steele.

Now a self-described ‘studio rat’, Ms. Cron divides her time between Colorado and Connecticut where she is raising three sons: Miles, Luke, and Oliver.

Artist's Statement

    Private Branches

With their virginal white limbs reaching for the sky, Quaking Aspens appear delicate and vulnerable. However, they provide food and shelter for a multitude of animals. Their unusual markings are teeth bites. Their marred bark is evidence of having been ravaged. The shapes of broken branches suggest sexual organs and a variety of sex acts are also suggested where limbs intersect.

This work strives for intimacy with these generous and unabashed sensual entities. Drawing, etching, gouache, and oil have been employed to describe and celebrate the Quaking Aspens’ unique forms.
